Son Jailed for Brutal Stabbing Murder of Father in Bromley
Sean Maurice, 31, has been locked up for ten years after fatally stabbing his father, Paul Maurice, in their Bromley home in September 2021. The chilling attack unfolded on Widmore Road, sparking a major police investigation.
Bloodied and Bare-Chested: Victim’s Final Moments
On the night of September 14, 2021, around 10.45pm, a neighbour answered the door to find Paul Maurice bare-chested and soaked in blood, with 33 savage stab wounds. Paul told the neighbour his son, Sean, was the attacker.
Emergency services were called at 10.50pm. Paramedics battled to save Paul, performing emergency surgery on the street after his condition worsened. Despite their efforts, he died just before midnight.
Manhunt Ends with Dramatic Standoff
Police launched an immediate manhunt for Sean Maurice, who was spotted hours earlier on Burnt Ash Lane. Officers pursued him on foot leading to a tense standoff when he climbed onto a shed to evade capture. He was eventually arrested and charged with murder.
Investigation and Verdict
Detectives pieced together witness testimony, CCTV, and forensic evidence to build their case. The post-mortem confirmed Paul died from stab wounds to the chest and abdomen.
“Today, our hearts go out to the family, who have been devastated by the events of that night,” said Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood. “Sean’s relationship with his father was difficult for years, but the level of violence was shocking and unjustifiable. I commend my team for their hard work during this complex investigation.”
