Speed Demon Caught After Two Hair-Raising Police Chases
Christopher Marshall, 40, from Manchester, has been sentenced to 28 months in jail after blazing away from cops twice — once with two young kids strapped in the back. Marshall admitted to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and handling stolen goods at Manchester Crown Court.
First High-Speed Chase: 80mph Madness
In December 2023, a local officer spotted Marshall driving despite being banned. He slammed the accelerator, hitting 80mph, weaving through traffic, running red lights, and even mounting pavements. Police called off the chase for safety but later caught and charged him.
Second Chase: Kids Put at Grave Risk
On 3 January 2025, Marshall was stopped again. This time, with two young children in the car, he floored it. He mounted a kerb, clipped a pedestrian’s vehicle, and forced a cop to brake hard to avoid a crash. Officers wisely called off the pursuit due to the kids, but Marshall was arrested days later.
Police Sound the Alarm on Reckless Drivers
PC Mohammed Ditta, GMP: “We see the consequences of dangerous driving every day – from minor scrapes to serious injuries and deaths. Driving recklessly with children in the car was incredibly dangerous, and we’re lucky it didn’t end worse.” “Our neighbourhood team regularly patrols Gorton and surrounding areas, targeting crime wherever we find it.”
