Person Struck by Train at St Dunstan’s Crossing, Canterbury

A major emergency unfolded just after 8pm tonight (Wednesday 16th November) when a person was hit by a train at the St Dunstan’s street level crossing in Canterbury.

Massive Rescue Operation Underway

Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue, and HART paramedics have launched a huge rescue effort. The seriously injured victim is receiving urgent treatment on site. The Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance arrived to assist the critical medical response.

Fire crews deployed a rope rescue system using height vehicles to safely recover the injured person. Meanwhile, Network Rail and emergency staff are also at the scene managing the situation.

Road and Rail Disruptions Hit Canterbury

Kent Police closed Rheims Way, a key route in and out of Canterbury, to aid recovery efforts. All train lines nearby are currently blocked. Southern Eastern trains confirmed they are working on arranging replacement buses for affected travellers.
