Drug Dealer Busted with Cocaine Stash Hidden Under Car Door
On April 17, 2022, Aloisios Varthalitis was pulled over by community policing officers on Trench Road. Suspicious of drug dealing, the police searched his Fiat Punto and made a shocking discovery: a magnetic box stuck under the driver’s door containing nine bags of cocaine.
Cash, Phones and More Drugs Found at Varthalitis’ Home
Varthalitis was arrested on the spot. Officers seized £320 in cash and two mobile phones from him. A further search at his Grosvenor Road home uncovered another magnetic box with cocaine inside. The total street value of the drugs hit an estimated £400.
Police uncovered damning evidence after examining the phones – text messages revealed ongoing drug supply operations across Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge.
24-Year-Old Dealer Jailed for Nearly Three Years
Varthalitis, 24, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of criminal property at Maidstone Crown Court. On January 23, 2023, he was sentenced to two years and eleven months behind bars.
His car and the seized cash were also confiscated.
“Another dealer who has brought misery to the streets of west kent/" title="Kent">Kent towns is quite rightly starting a prison sentence,” said Maidstone CID Investigator Amanda Lissenden.
“Our local police officers are unwavering in their efforts to apprehend these criminals and, as demonstrated in this case, will conduct extensive searches to find their drugs – wherever they may be hidden.”
