Last night, panic erupted as a fierce fire tore through a restaurant on Pont Street, Belgravia. Sixty firefighters and eight fire engines raced to the scene to battle the blaze.

Basement Fire Wrecks Building’s Extraction System
The fire damaged part of the building’s basement and completely destroyed the extraction system running from the basement up to the roof. Firefighters in breathing apparatus worked tirelessly to bring the inferno under control.
Investigation Underway into Cause of Blaze
Crews from 123, Euston, Chelsea, and Fulham fire stations were at the scene. Fire 123’s investigation team is now probing what sparked the fire.
Fire escape hoods, capable of shielding against deadly gases like carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide for up to 15 minutes, helped protect those nearby during the evacuation.
