Cop Seriously Hurt in Shocking Hit-and-Run on Coulter Road
At 3.16pm on Friday, 26 January 2024, a police officer was struck while conducting speed checks on foot near the junction of Coulter Road and Hedgers Way.
Officer in Hospital After Collision
The officer suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital but has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
Silver Vauxhall Vectra Spotted After Crash
The vehicle involved is described as a silver Vauxhall Vectra. Police discovered a matching car abandoned in Hornash Lane, Shadoxhurst, later that same day. It’s believed the car travelled along nearby Tally Ho Road shortly after the incident.
Five Arrested in Connection to Incident
- Three men aged 19, 23, and 37
- Two women aged 19 and 32
All are local residents. The 23-year-old man remains in custody while the other four have been bailed pending further inquiries.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate officers returned to Coulter Road on Friday, 2 February, canvassing drivers and pedestrians for more information.
