Tottenham Gunman Caught After Scare on Busy Street
Ricardo Anderson, 21, of Manor Road, Tottenham, was found guilty at the Central Criminal Court on Wednesday, 10 April. He was convicted of possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life, plus attempted grievous bodily harm.
Gunfire Terrorises Summer Evening Crowd
Detective Constable Rhiain John described the chaos: “This happened on a busy street on a warm summer’s evening. People were out, shops were open. Terrified onlookers, including children, ran for safety behind parked cars and into shops.”
She added, “Anderson showed no concern for the public’s safety. By sheer luck, this tragedy didn’t turn into a murder investigation.”
Gun Battle Linked to Gang Feud
Police confirmed the shooting was tied to an ongoing dispute between rival gangs in the area. Detective John said, “We used CCTV, witness statements, and forensic evidence to prove Anderson’s guilt. Offences like this are taken extremely seriously.”
On 27 May 2023 at around 8pm, a blue VW Golf sped along Park Lane, N17, before screeching to a halt. A man in a balaclava pulled a gun from his waistband and fired wildly at the vehicle.
The car’s occupant tried to return fire, but his weapon jammed. The vehicle then sped off, and the shooter fled on foot.
Key Evidence Seals Anderson’s Fate
Specialist firearms officers scoured the scene but failed to find suspects initially. Detectives recovered multiple shell casings and reviewed CCTV footage showing a group filming a music video nearby just half an hour earlier.
One man, wearing a distinctive blue North Face tracksuit, black trainers, and a balaclava, was the shooter. Officers later identified him as Ricardo Anderson after CCTV caught him unmasked near a shop.
Anderson was arrested on 31 May and charged the next day. The stolen vehicle involved was traced but its occupants remain unidentified.
Anderson faces sentencing on 1 and 22 May.
