Tottenham Gunman Caught After Wild Shootout on Busy Street
Ricardo Anderson, 21, from Manor Road, Tottenham, has been convicted at the Central Criminal Court for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life, and attempted grievous bodily harm.
Terrified Families Flee as Shots Ring Out
Detective Constable Rhiain John revealed the terrifying scene: “This happened on a busy street on a warm summer evening. People were out, shops were open. Terrified onlookers, including children, ducked behind parked cars and rushed into shops for safety.”
She added, “Ricardo Anderson showed no concern for public safety. By sheer luck, this didn’t end in murder.”
Gang Feud Sparks Violent Shootout
Police investigations linked the incident to ongoing disputes between rival gangs in the area. Using CCTV, witness statements, and forensic evidence, officers were determined to bring Anderson to justice.
“These offences are taken incredibly seriously,” said DC John. “We pursue every lead to identify and prosecute those responsible.”
Dramatic Chase and Arrest
The court heard that on 27 May 2023 at 8pm, a blue R-Type VW Golf sped along Park Lane, N17 before suddenly stopping in the road. A man in a balaclava pulled out a firearm and fired wildly at the vehicle.
Another occupant attempted to shoot back, but their gun jammed. The car sped off, and the armed man fled on foot.
Specialist firearms officers scoured the area but failed to find the suspects initially. Detectives recovered shell casings and traced CCTV footage showing a group filming a music video nearby just half an hour before.
One man, later identified as Anderson, was caught on camera wearing a distinct blue North Face tracksuit, black trainers, and a balaclava. CCTV from a nearby shop captured him without his mask, sealing his ID.
Anderson was arrested on 31 May and charged the following day. The stolen vehicle used in the incident was also recovered, but the other occupants remain unknown.
Anderson faces sentencing on 22 May.
