Drunken Duo Booted Off EasyJet Flight to Cheers from Fellow Passengers
Two troublemakers were hauled off an easyJet flight from Tenerife South to London Gatwick in the early hours of Wednesday — to cheers from fellow travellers fed up with their antics. The pair were allegedly drunk and rowdy throughout the journey, forcing Sussex Police to step in as soon as the plane landed around 2am.
Rowdy Pair Down Duty-Free Vodka, Police Called In
Witnesses described the pair as “rowdy” after they knocked back a hefty amount of duty-free vodka. The chaos worsened, prompting police intervention on the tarmac. One passenger filmed the scene and told Mail Online, “A police officer emptied the passenger’s handbag onto the tarmac and a 1-litre vodka bottle that appeared to be almost empty fell out.”
EasyJet Slams Disruptive Behaviour, Backs Crew Action
An easyJet spokesperson said: “We can confirm that flight EZS8036 from Tenerife to London Gatwick this morning was met by police on arrival due to a passenger behaving disruptively onboard. EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and act quickly to ensure the safety of the flight and other passengers is never compromised.”
They added, “While such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate disruptive behaviour onboard. The safety and well-being of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”
Sussex Police Give Advice Before Passengers Resume Journey
After being removed from the flight, the passengers were spoken to by Sussex Police officers and given words of advice. They were then allowed to continue on their onward journey without further incident.
