Gillingham Monster Jailed for 22 Years Over Decades of Child Abuse
A disgusting sex offender from Gillingham has finally been locked up for 22 years. Roy Humphreys preyed on three vulnerable children over 30 years, abusing them after gaining their trust.
30 Years of Horror Uncovered
Humphreys first targeted two boys in the 1970s through family connections, manipulating and abusing them repeatedly. Decades later, a third child was also horrifically abused.
In 2020, the last victim bravely spoke out to a relative. Police arrested Humphreys on 18 December. Soon after, the other two victims came forward, sharing their traumatic stories.
Pervert Finally Faces Justice
Now 82 and living on Broadway in Gillingham, Humphreys faced 18 serious charges including rape, gross indecency, and indecent assault. He pled not guilty but was convicted on 17 counts in June 2025.
On 15 October, he was sentenced to 22 years in prison. Humphreys remains under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.

“Humphreys is a vile sexual predator who gained the trust of three young children before committing multiple offences. The appalling impact of his crimes on their lives has been significant and cannot be overstated,” said Detective Constable Emma Davies.
“I commend the victims for their bravery in coming forward to bring this man to justice. I hope this sentence encourages others who have suffered abuse, no matter how long ago, to speak out. Our specialist team is ready to listen and act.”
