But Stuart defied the odds and made a full recovery. While he still battles memory lapses and fatigue when pushing himself, nothing stops his drive. Now, he’s training hard for December’s ultra – turning survival into strength.

Stuart is not just running for himself – he’s racing to raise funds for Headway portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth and South East Hampshire, the charity helping brain injury survivors rebuild their lives. “It knocked me for six, physically and mentally,” Stuart admits. “It takes ages to recover, even if you’re lucky. I was strong and healthy before the injury, and it took months to get back to full-time work.”

He credits his recovery to unshakable support from his girlfriend, family, and friends – but many aren’t so lucky. Stuart highlights the vital work Headway does for those left stranded after brain trauma.
