A terrifying incident at Keysborough Secondary College in Melbourne’s south-east saw the school plunge into lockdown after its principal was allegedly stabbed by a staff member. Police swiftly arrested the suspect at the scene as emergency services raced to the school.

Principal Rushed to Hospital After Alleged Stabbing

Just after 3pm on Tuesday, police and paramedics were called to the Acacia campus following reports of a stabbing. The male principal was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A male staff member was promptly arrested and is currently being questioned by police, with no charges laid yet.

School Lockdown Triggers Panic Among Students

The school was locked down shortly after the final bell. Students described a harrowing scene, with teachers instructing them to hide silently under tables for around 20 minutes. One student said: “It felt scary … I’m shocked.”

Reports also say some students who left moments before the lockdown saw a man carrying a knife on campus.

Emergency Response Mobilised

  • Police confirmed the man was arrested at the scene and will be interviewed.
  • Ambulance Victoria transported two patients from the school to hospital.
  • Advanced life support and mobile intensive care paramedics attended the crisis.
