Thierry Nevers, once a promising West Ham academy star, has been jailed for three years for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. The 23-year-old’s football career, which saw him at clubs like Reading, Newport County, and Bradford City, and even abroad in Moldova and Croatia, has been shattered by this shocking conviction.
Partner-in-Crime Busted with Gun, Gets 10 Years
Nevers wasn’t alone in crime. His accomplice, 50-year-old Allan Barrass, got slammed with a hefty ten-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy and possession of a loaded sawn-off shotgun. Their drug ring collapsed after a major police raid.
Instagram Flexes and Armed Police Raids
At Lincoln Crown Court, it emerged Nevers regularly shipped drugs from Dorrington to Reading. He flaunted his illegal lifestyle on Instagram, posting rap videos that glorified his criminal dealings. Meanwhile, police raided Barrass’ home and found a loaded shotgun, 40 grams of cocaine, nearly £6,000 in cash, plus a lock knife, baton, baseball bat, and cannabis plants growing in the garage.
Bodycam Footage and Phone Records Pin Them Down
Armed officers caught Barrass red-handed. Police bodycam footage from 6 August shows his dramatic arrest. Mobile phone records revealed detailed drug deal discussions between Barrass and Nevers, sealing their fate.
Detective Sergeant Adam Petty blasted: “Drugs have a terrible impact on our communities and will never be tolerated. As well as the suffering caused to users, drug dealing brings violence and an uplift in theft offences, and often, as is seen in this case, the possession of dangerous weapons.”
Nevers joined West Ham’s academy in 2021 but quit three years later. Now, the former football hopeful faces a grim future behind bars instead of on the pitch.
