Man’s Body Found Floating in River Roding Sparks Major Emergency

A grim scene unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when a man’s body was discovered floating in the River Roding near Redbridge, Ilford. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but tragically, the man was pronounced dead on arrival.

Emergency Crews Respond Near Redbridge Station

The Metropolitan Police received the call at 12:55pm and quickly deployed officers to the river. Fire crews from Leytonstone, Ilford, and Stratford stations assisted, arriving just after 1pm. The operation wrapped up by 2:02pm.

The area around Redbridge Underground Station remains cordoned off with local traffic diversions in place. Authorities have asked the public to steer clear to allow emergency teams to carry out their work uninterrupted.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at around 12:55pm to a report of a body in the River Roding in Redbridge. Officers attended and recovered the body of a man. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is being treated as unexpected and non-suspicious. Enquiries are ongoing to identify and inform next of kin.”
