Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Arrested Over Public Misconduct

Ex-prince Andrew, 60s, held in Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Thames Valley Police confirmed the arrest and are searching properties in Berkshire and Norfolk. He remains in custody.

King Charles Backs Police Investigation

King Charles III stated the “law must take its course” and pledged his “full and wholehearted support and cooperation” to the police. The probe follows allegations tied to Andrew’s links with the disgraced billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

Confidential Files Spark Suspicion

Investigators are looking into claims Andrew shared confidential government material with Epstein. Communications between the two surfaced in files recently released by the US Department of Justice. This marks the first time Andrew has been arrested, despite his consistent denials of any wrongdoing.

Thames Valley Police opened a formal investigation after a thorough assessment. They are also reviewing a separate allegation that Epstein sent a woman in her 20s to the UK in 2010 for a sexual encounter with Andrew. No sexual offence allegations relate to Thursday’s arrest.

Raids at Royal Properties

Police vehicles were spotted at Sandringham, the King’s Norfolk estate where Andrew has been living since leaving Windsor. Royal Lodge, Andrew’s former Windsor home, is also being searched amid a visible police presence.

Thames Valley Police are following national guidelines by not naming the arrested man. Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said: “We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time.” Norfolk Constabulary supports the investigation.

The Trade Envoy Controversy

Andrew served as the UK’s trade envoy from 2001 to 2011, gaining access to high-level government and business contacts. Documents show he forwarded reports on trips to Vietnam, Singapore and China, plus investment details in gold and uranium from Afghanistan, to Epstein. Trade envoys are bound by confidentiality rules concerning sensitive information.

Past Allegations and Legal Settlement

Andrew previously faced allegations from Virginia Giuffre, who claimed he forced her into sex multiple times, including on Epstein’s private island. The case was settled out of court without any admission of guilt from Andrew. He has not publicly commented on the latest allegations linked to the Epstein files released in January.
