Taxi driver jailed for raping woman who dozed off in his cab
Victim’s Daring Escape from Horrific Attack
A brutal taxi driver has been locked up for nine years after raping a woman who fell asleep in his cab. Dominic Dalton betrayed her trust, dragging her to bed and attacking her while she was unconscious, a court heard.
The terrified victim woke to find Dalton abusing her. She grabbed a knife, screamed at him to get out, and when he refused, she ran barefoot outside. In a desperate bid to flee, she slashed his tyres and ran to a neighbour’s house to call the police.
Dalton’s Shady Attempts to Dodge Justice
Dalton tried to cover his tracks after the assault. Police found chilling internet searches on his phone, like “have you been falsely accused of rape?” and “perverting the course of justice.” Despite the evidence, he denied the charges, claiming everything was consensual.
The jury weren’t fooled, convicting him in under two hours at Swansea Crown Court.
