Man Locked Up for Over 3 Years for Brutal Abuse and Strangulation in Hampshire
Jury Convicts After Shocking Control and Violence
A man has been sentenced to 38 months behind bars for a terrifying spree of coercive control, strangulation, and assault in Waterlooville and New Milton. After an intense eight-day trial, the jury found Chandler guilty on all charges. He faced sentencing at the same court on Friday, 20 February.
Relentless Control and Abuse Detailed in Court
The court heard how Chandler dominated every corner of the victim’s life. He monitored her outings, imposed strict time limits, bombarded her with phone calls, and controlled the use of her own mobile phone. Chandler dictated what she wore and even ordered her to get breast surgery to change her appearance.
His twisted control stretched to threats against her home and family’s property. He wielded power over her business too — forcing name changes, banning male customers, controlling services, altering signage, deleting social media accounts, and damaging business property. He even forced her to humiliate herself in front of clients.
Physical Abuse and Strangulation Confirmed
Chandler’s cruelty wasn’t just psychological. The jury found he repeatedly assaulted the victim, including intentional strangulation on 29 March 2025. Between June 2024 and June 2025, he slapped her, grabbed her head, pulled her hair, and restrained her.
“To see Chandler sentenced to over three years imprisonment is a result I am happy with,” said Detective Constable Andrew Mason of Havant and Waterlooville CID. “He deserves to be behind bars for the physical, emotional, mental and financial abuse he inflicted.”
DC Mason praised the victim’s bravery throughout the case and highlighted the “shocking and abhorrent” lengths Chandler went to control her.
