Two notorious Salisbury shoplifters have finally been locked up, thanks to a joint effort between police, local businesses, and CCTV.

Partners-in-Crime Nabbed

Dean Brown, 46, and Jodie Brown, 28, both from Cook Court, Bishopdown, were sentenced to 20 and 12 months behind bars respectively. They were found guilty of multiple theft and shoplifting offences across Salisbury.

Powerful Partnerships Crack the Case

The convictions come after a thorough investigation by the Salisbury Neighbourhood Policing Team, backed by Response officers and crucial support from Salisbury BID and city-wide CCTV.

“Dean and Jodie Brown’s offending has caused great stress and financial loss to many businesses in Salisbury, and they have shown total disregard for the impact they have had,” said Salisbury Neighbourhood Inspector Tina Osborn.

“Their convictions are a direct result of the Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) work ongoing across the city. These individuals were identified and targeted through tactical meetings chaired by myself. This case shows the power of teamwork and the serious consequences of shoplifting. They will now serve time behind bars.”

Voices from the Frontline

Dan Collins, Salisbury BID Operations Manager, added: “This result shows the strength of partnership working in Salisbury. By collaborating with Wiltshire Police, Salisbury City Council, and our local businesses, we’ve been able to share intelligence and act swiftly.

“Our Business Crime Reduction Partnership is all about collaboration. When businesses report incidents and partners act together, we get results. This case proves collective action reduces crime and keeps Salisbury safe and welcoming for everyone.”

Keith Jackson, Salisbury City Council’s CCTV Manager, said: “Our Public Space CCTV plays a crucial role in fighting retail crime. The network and operators recently gave vital evidence that helped charge Dean and Jodie Brown with multiple theft offences.

“This outcome highlights the strong team effort between Salisbury City Council, Wiltshire Police, Salisbury BID, and local businesses, all working to cut shoplifting and support our retailers.”
