Police swooped seconds after a burglary alarm blared at a shop in Upchurch. The alert sounded at 12.57am on Sunday, March 8, 2026, with a sharp-eyed witness also tipping off officers about the break-in on The Street.

High-Speed Getaway Ends in Crash

Officers caught the suspects trying to flee in a Range Rover. The getaway went wrong when the vehicle smashed into a wall and several parked cars. Cops used incapacitant spray to stop the three men at 1.11am.

Inside the car, police found cigarettes, booze, and cash—likely stolen loot.

Serious Charges and Court Dates

  • Lee Phillips, 48, from Camp Way, Maidstone, hit with six charges, including burglary and driving offences.
  • Steven Snell, 41, of Mercer Close, Aylesford, faces two burglary charges plus handling stolen goods.
  • Harrison Phillips, 23, of St Welcumes Way, Harrietsham, was charged with burglary, handling stolen items, and assaulting an emergency worker.

The trio appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on March 9. Lee Phillips and Steven Snell were remanded in custody, while Harrison Phillips got conditional bail. Their next hearing is set for April 7 at Woolwich Crown Court.
