A Slovakian man has been locked up for five years after police uncovered a gun and a homemade ammunition kit during an NCA raid in Warwick.

Firearms Fixation Leads to Arrest

Stefan Fenyes, 47, was caught after the National Crime Agency (NCA) discovered he was obsessed with firearms. The court heard Fenyes has a keen interest in survivalism and doomsday prepping.

Following an investigation, Fenyes admitted to possessing a pistol and manufacturing live ammunition. He was sentenced today at Birmingham Crown Court.

227 Online Orders Spark Suspicion

Fenyes raised red flags after placing 227 separate online orders for items linked to ammunition manufacture. These included tools to reload spent rounds, specially-made gun barrel brushes, and ammo storage boxes.

He was arrested on 20 March at his workplace in Royal Leamington Spa. A search of his home found a Czech-manufactured pistol loaded with live rounds, gun barrels, parts, and the tools he had ordered to produce ammunition.

Survival Gear and Shady Excuses

Officers also seized survival guides, crossbows, and knives from Fenyes’s address. In interviews, he claimed the gun ended up in the UK by mistake, sent in a fishing tackle box during a trip to Slovakia.

He told investigators he was learning to make ammo to prepare for a potential invasion or civil unrest in the UK.

Rick Mackenzie, NCA Senior Investigator: “Stefan Fenyes is clearly obsessed with guns and was intent on assembling an arsenal. Our investigation has removed a lethal firearm and live ammunition from criminal circulation. While gun crime in the UK is low, stopping illegal firearms getting into the wrong hands remains a top priority.”
