A 61-year-old shoplifter has been slapped with a five-year ban from Bristol’s Broadmead shopping area after repeatedly nicking candles and beauty products.

Christmas Eve Clampdown on Repeat Offender

Rosa Kovacs, from Easton, copped a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) on Christmas Eve after admitting to thefts on December 6 and 9. The court order forbids her from setting foot in Broadmead, with jail time hanging over her head if she breaks the rules.

Swift Justice in Bristol Magistrates’ Court

Kovacs was arrested by neighbourhood officers on December 23. The next day at Bristol Magistrates’ Court, she pleaded guilty to both offences. Besides the CBO, she was ordered to pay £240 compensation and undertake rehabilitation.

The message is clear: Bristol’s shops are cracking down hard on persistent shoplifters.
