Cop Mowed Down by Audi in Shocking Hit-and-Run
Drama erupted at around 9.15pm on Monday, November 16, when police spotted a grey Audi RS weaving dangerously along the Black Country Route. Officers pulled the car over at the traffic lights where Millfields Road meets Manor Road – but things quickly went south.
Officer Hit and Thrown Across Bonnet
As an officer approached the vehicle, the Audi suddenly lurched forward, smashing into him and throwing him across the bonnet before speeding off towards Bilston town centre. The officer sustained minor leg injuries and was treated at hospital before being sent home to recover.
Audi Abandoned, Investigation Underway
Police later found the car dumped on Mill Street around 9.55pm. It has now been seized for forensic examination. Two men are believed to have been inside the vehicle during the incident.
Police Appeal for Eyewitnesses
Detective Sergeant Louise Stafford of Force CID said: “It is through pure good fortune that this officer was not more seriously injured. The driver deliberately tried to hit him and then fled the scene, leaving the officer on the ground.”
“We urge anyone who was nearby with dashcam footage or who saw anyone running from the Audi to get in touch.”
