Shocking Street Abduction
A man has been locked up for 11 years after abducting and sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in Birmingham. On 30 March, Mohammed Abdulraziq snatched the little girl while she played outside, dragging her into a nearby house.
High on Drugs and Beer
The court revealed Abdulraziq was heavily under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time. Judge Kerry Maylin said he had consumed three cans of beer and smoked two cigarettes of Mamba, a dangerous synthetic cannabis. Before the attack, he had made lewd, “sexualised comments” to the girl’s mother.
Heroic Rescue
The mother and a friend desperately searched for the child after she vanished. Hearing the girl’s cries from inside the locked house, the mother tried to break a window with a wooden board. A friend climbed through the window but was punched by Abdulraziq before it was shut again. Luckily, two men heard the commotion and forced entry, holding Abdulraziq until police arrived.
Justice Served
Abdulraziq was found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court in September 2025 of false imprisonment, intending to commit a sexual offence, sexual assault on a child under 13, and assault on a woman. Judge Maylin extended his licence by four years, warning he poses a serious risk, especially to children.
“He was a predatory individual who took a young girl off the street and into his house,” said Detective Sergeant Nicky Simms.
“The victim was a little girl happily playing in the street, whose cries of distress will haunt her mother forever,” added Judge Maylin.
The victim’s mother described the trauma in a heartfelt victim impact statement, saying the ordeal would leave lasting scars on both her and her daughter.
