Granny DJ is hitting the big screen in Sussex for the first time at the Made in Sussex Film Festival. The Brighton-shot horror-comedy premieres locally on Sunday, 29 March 2026 at 8pm at Lewes Depot, following its debut at the Horror on Sea Film Festival.

Set against iconic Brighton backdrops like the Old Ship Hotel tunnels and Zahara Nightclub (now DUST), Granny DJ drenches its neon-lit scenes with genuine local flavour. Co-written by Faith Elizabeth and Brighton scribe James Alexander Allen, the film packs in vibrant city energy and dark comedy.
Granny Reinvents Herself as a DJ – With Chilling Consequences
Jill Stanford leads as a rebellious grandmother who defies ageing by becoming a DJ. What starts as a lively reinvention spirals into a darker, eerie tale. The story unfolds through her grandchild, Lola, played by Summer Elizabeth, blending comic-book visuals with gripping horror themes, exploring grief and family secrets.
Spotlight on Sussex Talent & Female Filmmaking
Directed by Sussex native Faith Elizabeth, Granny DJ is produced by Faithful Films and Tripod Productions. Faith is also the founder of Yes She Cannes, championing women filmmakers. The film vies for a £10,000 Best Director Prize at the festival, which it will close alongside a screening of John Langridge’s Charlie Shaw’s Revenge.
