Sussex Police have smashed drug networks across the county in a massive week-long operation. Dozens arrested, loads of drugs seized, and weapons taken off the streets in a fierce blow to county lines gangs.
County Lines Criminals Targeted in Coordinated Raids
The blitz was part of a nationwide push to dismantle “county lines” – ruthless gangs exploiting vulnerable people, including kids, to peddle heroin, cocaine, and other illegal substances. Officers carried out raids, stop-and-searches, and intelligence-led swoops right across Sussex.
The results were staggering:
- 82 arrested – men, women, and even teenagers caught in the dragnet
- Drugs worth over £200,000 seized, including heroin, cocaine, crack, cannabis, ketamine, and THC vapes
- 34 weapons confiscated, from knives to firearms
- Cash, vehicles, and digital devices linked to crime were also recovered
Vulnerable Victims Supported Amidst Policing Blitz
Police didn’t just crack down on dealers; they also focused on safeguarding. Officers identified and aided dozens of vulnerable young people at risk of being exploited by drug gangs. They also hit local schools and communities with vital education on the dangers of county lines.
Police Urge Public to Stay Alert and Report Suspicious Activity
“This operation is a major step in disrupting organised crime in Sussex,” said senior officers. “But our fight against these gangs continues all year. We urge the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious drug activity.”
Community tips remain crucial in the battle against these networks. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Sussex Police immediately.
