Nottinghamshire Police are hunting for a key witness after a fatal smash outside Sutton-Ashfield Golf Club. The tragic collision happened on Coxmoor Road just after 2.15pm on 19 February, involving two vehicles.
Tragic Loss of Local Charity Supporter
The driver of one car, 83-year-old David Colton, sadly died the following day, surrounded by family. Mr Colton was known for his work with the Tinkling Piano and his support for charitable causes in the community.

Police Seek Driver of Dark Five-Door Car
- A 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
- Detectives have spoken to several witnesses but now want to trace the driver of a dark, five-door car captured on CCTV.
- The driver reportedly stopped briefly at the scene but left before giving a statement.
Detective Constable Christopher Taylor said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Colton’s family and friends as we work to understand exactly what happened in the moments leading up to this collision. We know the driver of this vehicle stopped but left before a statement could be taken. If this is you, please get in touch. You are not a suspect but might have crucial information.”
