A manhunt is underway in East Bristol after a brazen daylight shooting left a man in his twenties with life-changing injuries. Armed officers and a police helicopter have swarmed the Speedwell area following the shocking attack.

Victim Airlifted as Schools Locked Down

Avon and Somerset Police launched the search after reports came in at 1.47pm on Tuesday of shots fired at a vehicle on Speedwell Road. The gunman remains at large hours after the shooting.

The victim was rushed by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital before 2.30pm. Police say his injuries are serious and “potentially life-altering,” but not believed fatal.

As a precaution, three local schools were locked down, with pupils and staff kept indoors while armed units scoured the area.

 

 

Police Go All Out to Catch Shooter

Chief Inspector James Clements confirmed heavy police resources are hunting the suspect, including the National Police Air Service helicopter and specialist firearms teams.

“I know this incident will be incredibly concerning, however we are deploying significant resources… as we work to locate the person responsible,”

He also warned locals to expect a major police presence over the coming days as the investigation unfolds.

Neighbourhood officers will increase patrols, offering reassurance to residents worried about safety in the aftermath.

Community on Edge as Police Seek Witnesses

The daylight attack in a busy residential district has sent shockwaves through East Bristol, sparking urgent questions about public safety.

Police have yet to say if the shooting was targeted or random, and no suspect descriptions have been released.

Authorities are urging anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage from Speedwell Road to come forward immediately.
