EastEnders Shifts Easter Monday Slot Amid TV Schedule Shake-Up
Soap fans brace yourselves! EastEnders has been bumped from its usual 7.30pm slot on Easter Monday (April 6) thanks to special programming and football fixtures shaking up TV schedules.
EastEnders Easter Schedule: Watched One Hour Later
This Monday, instead of your regular 7.30pm fix on BBC One, EastEnders kicks off at 8.30pm. The earlier 7.45pm slot is taken over by Celebrity Escape to the Country. Don’t worry though – the soap is still on, just pushed back an hour.
From Tuesday through Thursday, EastEnders returns to its typical time, so the rest of your soap week stays intact.
ITV Shakes Up Coronation Street & Emmerdale
ITV’s also juggling its schedules. Since January 2026, Corrie and Emmerdale fans have been treated to a new “soaps power hour” every weekday. Emmerdale runs a quick 30-minute episode at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm.
Before this, Coronation Street served up three hour-long episodes weekly, while Emmerdale offered four half-hour slots plus one hour-long show.
ITV chief Dame Carolyn McCall highlighted that these tweaks are part of a cost-cutting drive aiming to save £30 million in 2025. Daytime shows GMB and Lorraine also saw changes with GMB extended by 30 minutes and Lorraine trimmed to just 30 minutes for most of the year.
