A Cheadle woman took a five-seat Vauxhall Corsa on a terrifying joyride at breakneck speed before crashing it last March. Faye Dawson, 50, was caught on dashcam showing off and driving like a menace, putting five young passengers in serious danger.
Dashcam: Mum Boasts About Being a ‘Rally Car Driver’ Before Crash
The chilling footage reveals Dawson leaving her Staffordshire home late at night. She fumes, “I am a rally car driver and a b****. You get in here with your life.” She then picked up four terrified teens, checking if they were buckled up while admitting, “I am not a safe driver. Right now I am on alcohol and have had a smoke so I am even more f***ing dangerous.” Her reckless antics included swerving between lanes and cutting across roundabouts at nearly 80mph. The car veered off the road, smashing into a verge and flipping over with the passengers trapped inside.
Teens Terrified as Mum Speed-Demon Crashes
- Four of the five teenagers were injured, including one with a spine fracture.
- Passengers begged Dawson to slow down – desperate to survive the wild ride.
- One victim told the court: “I thought I was going to die. I had nightmares, flashbacks, and back pain for six months.”
- Another recalled feeling “trapped and terrified,” and suffering panic attacks since the crash.
Judge Slams ‘Appalling Arrogance’ – Dawson Locked Up
At Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Dawson pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. She was sentenced to 14 months in prison and banned from driving for 55 months.
“It was a miracle that you did not kill somebody,” Judge Richard McConaghy said. “Your appalling arrogance caught up with you.”
The judge blasted Dawson for focusing on the damage to her car rather than the injured teens. He said she was lucky not to face more serious charges, adding her driving was impaired by alcohol and drugs. Dawson’s defence claimed she suffers from PTSD and has no plans to drive again. But investigating officer PC Luke Randall called her actions “reckless and selfish.”
