A 50-year-old migrant from Tajikistan, Abdulmanon Aliev, has been found guilty of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl on a train travelling from Southend to London.

Chilling Assault on Busy Train

On June 16, Aliev sat opposite the young victim and tried to communicate using a translator app on his phone. When the girl moved away, he followed her, trapping her in an aisle seat by the window. British Transport Police revealed Aliev then forced himself on the girl, subjecting her to a prolonged and “abhorrent” sexual assault until the train reached London Fenchurch Street station. The victim escaped by boarding another train heading out of London, leaving Aliev behind.

Manhunt Ends with Arrest

The brave girl reported the attack to the police, sparking a swift manhunt. Officers found and arrested Aliev in South London. His home was searched, and the clothes he wore during the assault were recovered as evidence.

Detective Constable Elizabeth Cahill said: “Aliev singled out a vulnerable child and subjected her to one of the most abhorrent sexual assaults I’ve ever investigated. While the focus is rightly on him as the despicable predator he is, I want to pay tribute to the brave victim who reported him. “This verdict would not have been possible without her courage and cooperation. We take every sexual offence report seriously and will stop at nothing to bring offenders like Aliev to justice.”

Six Charges Lead to Guilty Verdict

After a week-long trial at Inner London Crown Court, Aliev was convicted on Thursday of six charges, including two counts of Assault by Penetration, three counts of Sexual Assault, and Attempted Rape. This case highlights the relentless efforts of police to protect vulnerable victims and prosecute sexual predators operating on the UK’s public transport network.
