A synagogue in London’s Finchley came under attack just after midnight when two balaclava-wearing assailants hurled petrol-filled bottles and a brick at Finchley Reform Synagogue. Luckily, the petrol bottles failed to ignite, preventing what could have been a devastating fire.
Second Hate Crime in a Month Sparks Outrage
This chilling incident marks the second suspected antisemitic hate crime in north London within the last month. Police have launched an urgent manhunt to track down the masked perpetrators before they strike again.
MP Sarah Sackman Condemns Attack
Sarah Sackman, Courts Minister and MP for Finchley and Golders Green, slammed the attack. She said:
“Thankfully no one has been hurt. This shocking attempt to harm a local synagogue follows a series of alarming attacks on the Jewish community in Finchley and Golders Green. As your local MP, and as a member of the community, I refuse to allow this to become the ‘new normal’.”
She added: “British Jews must be free to go about their lives without fear – whether taking their children to nursery or attending synagogue. We do not want to live behind ever higher walls.”
Community on Edge as Fear Grows
The attack has left the local Jewish community shaken and demanding tougher security measures. With police on the hunt, authorities vow to bring those responsible to justice and protect London’s Jewish residents from further threats.
