Tensions exploded in a Surrey town on Wednesday after police declined to release descriptions of suspects in a horrific gang rape case. The victim, a woman in her twenties, was attacked by multiple men outside Epsom Methodist Church in the early hours of Saturday morning following a night out at Labyrinth nightclub.

Attack Sparks Furious Protests

The assault happened between 2am and 4am on Ashley Road, just 100 yards from the nightclub. Police confirmed the woman was followed by several males before being brutally attacked but refused to say how many suspects are involved. East Surrey Chief Superintendent Mark Chapman said:

“We don’t have sufficient information to provide public descriptions at this time. We urge people not to speculate and inflame community tensions.”

Despite his appeal for calm, protesters swarmed the streets demanding answers. Mobile phone videos show heated standoffs between demonstrators and riot police. One speaker blasted the force’s silence, claiming:

“They aren’t telling you what’s going on. That’s why your women and girls are scared.”

The crowd also questioned why Borough Commander Inspector Tommy Pearson was nowhere to be seen.

Activists Demand Transparency, Police Ramp Up Patrols

Activist associate Danny Tommo, linked to Tommy Robinson, livestreamed the protest on YouTube, urging calm but challenging police over the perpetrators’ identities:

“Do not give them what they want, this is a long game.”

Police have not confirmed if any arrests were made during the demonstrations, but promised stepped-up patrols over the weekend.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Officers are appealing to anyone near Epsom Methodist Church between 2am and 4am last Saturday to share any CCTV, dashcam, or helmet camera footage. Witnesses should quote reference PR/45260041426 or use the police’s online reporting system to help the investigation.
