A 35-year-old man from Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, has pleaded guilty to horrific sexual and violent offences against two women in north Staffordshire.
Jacob Simcock’s Shocking Offences
Jacob Leslie Simcock appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 14 April, admitting multiple charges, including:
- Two counts of rape
- Two counts of intentional strangulation
- Stalking involving fear of violence
- Controlling and coercive behaviour
- Threats to share intimate images
The court heard Simcock raped and strangled one woman inside a house last year, then raped her again in a separate incident. He later threatened to share explicit videos of her and tried to isolate her, warning he would “batter” and run her over.
Police Discover Shocking Recordings
Stunningly, Simcock secretly recorded both rapes, footage that the survivor was unaware existed until police revealed it during their investigation. In a separate case, he strangled, stalked, and threatened another woman, even contacting her repeatedly from hidden numbers while she was at a police station. He made chilling threats about petrol bombing her home and pressured her to drop the allegations.
Justice and Courage
Staffordshire Police’s rape and serious sexual offences unit (RASSO) led the probe that forced Simcock to change his plea from denial to guilty. Detective Constable Adele Thompson and Investigative Officer Janine Shropshire praised the “tremendous courage” of both women for coming forward.
“Simcock has inflicted a great deal of pain and suffering on the two brave women in this investigation. We are pleased we’ve been able to build all of the evidence needed to secure this conviction as early as possible, and we hope it now provides them some comfort knowing he is behind bars and awaiting sentencing.”
Simcock remains in custody and is set for sentencing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 9 July. Anyone affected by similar crimes is urged to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 or via their Live Chat service online.
