Three men have been found guilty of a brutal, callous rape on Brighton beach. The victim, left terrified, was attacked in the early hours of 4 October after becoming separated from her friends.
The Attack and Trial
Iranian Abdulla Ahmadi, 26, and Egyptians Ibrahim Alshafe, 25, and Karin Al-Danasurt, 20, were convicted at Hove Crown Court. Ahmadi and Alshafe were found guilty of repeatedly raping the woman, while Al-Danasurt was guilty as a secondary party for filming the horrific attack and spitting in the victim’s face. Prosecutor Hanna Llewellyn-Waters KC described the horror: “The puerile contempt shown by Al-Danasurt, the predatory nature of Alshafe, and Ahmadi’s selfish entitlement created the perfect storm that night.”
Predatory Attack on Vulnerable Woman
- The victim was “highly intoxicated,” seen vomiting on her hands and knees.
- The men targeted her after she got separated from her friends during a night out.
- During the assault, the men laughed as they kicked her and grabbed her throat.
- Alshafe told the court he was a virgin seeking a British bride.
Living in a Home Office Hotel, All Await Deportation
At the time, the trio were staying in a Home Office hotel near Horsham. All have had their asylum applications rejected and are appealing the decisions. The court heard the men were out “on the lookout for women that night for sexual purposes” as they visited bars and nightclubs along Brighton seafront.
