Drug Deal Gone Wrong on Blackwood High Street

Corey Baldwin, 23, from Cefn Fforest, was caught red-handed after plain-clothed officers spotted a shady drug deal outside a Blackwood pub. The Gwent Police Community Action Team swooped in during an evening patrol on 9 August 2025, witnessing a quick exchange between three men on High Street.

Jailed for Over Two Years

Baldwin tried to hide by ducking into a shop doorway and sniffing a suspicious substance. But officers stopped and searched the group, finding bags of white powder — likely cocaine or ketamine — and a green tablet on Baldwin. He was arrested for possession with intent to supply class A drugs and later sentenced to two years and four months in prison at Cardiff Crown Court on 23 April 2026.

Police Crackdown on Drug Hotspots

PC David Brice, leading the case, said:

“Our Community Action Team homes in on hotspot areas across Gwent at risk of disorderly behaviour or drug offences, acting swiftly on intelligence and public concerns.” “Residents have the right to feel safe, and we’re committed to boosting safety and trust in our communities.” “This conviction and jail sentence show our ongoing efforts are making a real impact.”
