A man tragically died after his car hit a tree on Oldbury Road in Smethwick shortly after midnight. Emergency services, including West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics, a trauma doctor, a critical care paramedic, and the fire service, responded swiftly to the crash. Despite urgent advanced life support and rescue efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service deployed one ambulance, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor, and a critical care paramedic. The fire service was essential in extricating the man trapped inside his vehicle following the impact.
Life-saving Efforts Fail
After being freed from the car, the driver was critically injured. Ambulance crews provided advanced life support immediately, but unfortunately, he could not be saved and was confirmed deceased at the site.
