Firefighters are responding to reports of a fire at a high-rise building in Southampton after smoke was reported coming from the ninth floor. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service crews were mobilised to Television House in Meridian Way, Southampton, late on Friday evening. UKNIP understands that the emergency was being treated as a high-rise fire. The initial mobilisation was recorded at around 10.16pm on Friday, August 7, with multiple crews and resources assigned to the incident minutes later.

Smoke reported from ninth floor

Fire service mobilisation messages indicate that crews were responding to reports of smoke coming from the ninth floor of the building. A significant number of firefighters and resources were being assigned to the incident as crews made their way to the scene. The circumstances surrounding the fire, including whether anyone has been injured or evacuated from the building, have not yet been confirmed. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has been approached for further information. Emergency services are expected to remain in the area while firefighters investigate the source of the smoke and deal with the incident.
