Three Arrested After Spate of Street Robberies in Canterbury
Police have swooped on three suspects following a string of frightening crimes in Canterbury last Friday night.
Night of Violence and Theft
Between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on 18 September, three separate incidents unfolded across the city. It started in Dane John Gardens, where a woman was confronted by several men demanding cigarettes. When she said she had none, the gang turned nasty and hurled abuse at her.
Minutes later, in nearby Castle Street, a man and woman were targeted by a group of men. One of the thugs tried to snatch the woman’s watch. She refused, and they eventually slunk off.
Man Attacked and Robbed in Station Road East
The violence escalated at 11.30pm on Station Road East, where a man was punched and had his belongings stolen by unknown assailants.
Suspects Bailed as Police Investigate
Officers arrested a 15-year-old boy and two men aged 18 and 20 the same night. All three have been bailed to return to the police station while enquiries continue.
