Lockdown Defier Caught Cutting Hair in Van Despite Multiple Warnings

Barber Breaks Rules, Cuts Hair in Mobile Van

A rogue barber in Swindon has been caught red-handed cutting hair inside a branded van – defying lockdown rules and ignoring repeated warnings. The business had already received a prohibition notice from Swindon Borough Council and two stern warnings from Wiltshire Police, but refused to comply or engage.

Police Spot Illegal Haircut on Foot Patrol

This week, a police community support officer from the Swindon Area Community Policing Team spotted the van while on foot patrol. Approaching the vehicle, he found a barber actively cutting a customer’s hair in the back. The officer quickly alerted Swindon Borough Council’s Trading Standards team.

Fines Issued After Council and Police Visit

Following the tip-off, a joint inspection was carried out on the evening of November 11. Both council representatives and police officers visited and slapped the business with a fine for breaching government restrictions.

“This business had been on our radar for some time, receiving a prohibition notice and further warnings,” said Supt. Adrian Burt. “They knew they were breaking the rules but carried on regardless. It’s only right enforcement action was taken.”

Authorities Warn Businesses to Play by the Rules

Councillor Cathy Martyn, Cabinet Member for Housing and Public Safety, warned: “We understand businesses are struggling, but these restrictions protect everyone. Breaking the rules harms efforts to lower Swindon’s coronavirus cases.”

The council’s Trading Standards team vows to continue issuing prohibition notices where necessary.
