Frantic River Rescue Underway After Sudden Storm Hits Paddle Boarders
A desperate search is ongoing for several paddle boarders stranded on a treacherous river after an unexpected downpour this morning. The sudden rain turned the calm river into a dangerous trap, leaving them in serious trouble.
Massive Rescue Effort in South West Wales
Rescue teams from across South and West Wales have flooded the scene, including a specialist diving unit from Swansea. Safety nets and hoses have been strung between riverbanks to protect rescuers battling the fast-flowing waters.
Four Helicopters Join Intense Search Operation
HM Coastguard has deployed a rescue helicopter to scour the river from above. Local coastguard teams and fire brigades are also on high alert, combing the Cleddau River in Haverfordwest. Police, ambulance, and fire crews have all joined forces in this major search.
Police Issue Warning to Public
Dyfed Powys Police confirmed the ongoing search, urging the public to steer clear of Quay Street and nearby areas. A spokesperson said:
“A multi-agency search is taking place on the River Cleddau following reports of people in distress in the water. The area has been cordoned off for safety.”
“Ambulance, Fire, and Coastguard teams, including a Coastguard helicopter, are actively assisting.”
The search now involves four helicopters – two air ambulances, one police chopper, and the Coastguard aircraft. More updates to follow as the dramatic rescue effort continues.
