Man Arrested After Two Nottingham Officers Injured in Shocking Attack
A 21-year-old man has been arrested after two police officers were hurt in Nottingham city centre early Saturday morning.
Urinating Suspect Turns Violent
Just before 2.30am on May 21, officers on patrol were called to Goldsmith Street after reports of a man urinating in public. When challenged, the suspect reportedly lashed out.
One officer suffered a cut to his head needing medical attention, while another was pulled to the ground, leaving him with bruising and swelling to his elbow.
Force Vows No Tolerance for Attacks on Emergency Workers
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and remains in custody as investigations continue.
Sergeant Laura McCullough from Nottinghamshire Police said: “We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour against our officers or any emergency service workers. Our officers head out every day to keep the community safe – they should never have to fear being assaulted or end up in hospital.”
“We are fully supporting the injured officers and carrying out a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrator to justice.”
