Tragic Fall at Queens Park: Man Dies After Scaffold Accident
On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, just after 1pm, emergency services rushed to Queens Park, West London, following a fatal scaffolding accident. A man fell around 20 metres from a two-story building while working on a property on Fifth Avenue, West Kilburn.
Massive Rescue Operation Launched
The London Fire Brigade deployed a rope rescue specialist and a 32-metre turntable ladder to the scene. Meanwhile, the London Ambulance Service sent its HART (Hazardous Area Response Team), an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, and the city’s Air Ambulance.
Despite a massive effort from paramedics and firefighters using rope rescue packs and aerial ladders, the man tragically died at the scene.
Investigations Underway
The Met Police, the Health and Safety Executive, and the coroner have launched formal investigations into the incident. A large area surrounding the scene remains cordoned off as officers work.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.22pm to reports of an incident on Fifth Avenue, West Kilburn. Sadly, despite our medics’ best efforts, a person died at the scene.”
The victim’s family has been informed, and the authorities continue to probe the tragic fall.
