Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a woman in her 60s was found dead at a property on Connaught Road, Eastbourne. Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 6.45pm on Sunday, December 18, following welfare concerns.
Man Arrested as Police Investigate
A 59-year-old local man, known to the victim, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody as officers carry out their enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Vickers reassured the public, saying: “We believe this to be an isolated matter with no threat to the wider public.” She confirmed a thorough investigation is underway, with a boosted police presence expected in the area.
DCI Vickers appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious, especially between 7.45am and 10am on Sunday, December 18, to come forward.
