Police Super Scrambles to Help Ukrainian Crisis
Superintendent Rachel McNeil, head of the Diversity and Inclusion Academy, sprang into action after organising four major collections of urgent supplies. She soon realised she needed a bigger space to handle the flood of medical kits, clothes, toys, and essential items pouring in from friends, family, and neighbours.
Ashford Designer Outlet Steps Up Big Time
Rachel reached out to Ashford Designer Outlet staff, who kindly handed over a unit rent-free. Now, the public can drop off donations or cash at Unit 77, right next to Crew Clothing. The volunteer-run hub is open every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm, until July 3, 2022.
‘Bags of Love’ For Ukrainian Kids and Troops
The team is collecting ‘Bags of Love’ packed with comfort items for displaced and orphaned Ukrainian children. They’re also gathering nutrient packs to support soldiers on the front lines, plus vital food and medication.
“The conflict in Ukraine has dragged on for over 100 days, devastating millions, especially innocent children whose lives have been torn apart,” Rachel said.
“Many are without basic food and water. Every day is a fight to survive. Like countless others, I wanted to help and thank everyone who has donated so far.”
“Big thanks to the Rotary Club of Ashford and Ashford Designer Outlet for their amazing support.”
