Man Arrested After Blaze Rips Through Southsea Flat
A man is in custody as police launch an arson investigation following a fierce fire on Waverley Road, Southsea. Three fire engines from Southsea raced to the scene just after 11.30pm on Friday, facing a rapidly spreading blaze.
Neighbours Left Shaken by Second Fire
Firefighters battled the flames into the early hours, using breathing apparatus and two hose reels to bring the fire under control. The flat suffered severe damage, leaving neighbours stunned. This is reportedly the second fire at the property in just a few days, according to locals.
Man Questioned on Arson and Endangering Life
Police arrested one man at the scene, who is now being questioned on suspicion of arson and potentially endangering lives. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
Fire Brigade Confirms No Injuries
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We deployed multiple fire resources alongside a tactical advisor to tackle the blaze. No one was injured.”
