Firefighters Break Down Door to Rescue Children
Fire crews smashed down the front door after arriving at around 8:40pm, discovering a fire smouldering on the stairs. Thankfully, the six-year-old and nine-year-old children were unharmed after fleeing the scene and were looked after by neighbours.
Arrest Made on Suspicion of Arson with Intent to Endanger Life
The man, believed to be the partner of local resident Rachael Redford, was found intoxicated at the scene and arrested on suspicion of arson. He remains in custody as police question him over the incident.
House Also Reported to Be Illegal Puppy Farm
Neighbours reported the property was being used as a puppy farm, with over 40 small dogs believed to be kept inside. Arson specialists and forensic officers spent hours gathering evidence both inside and outside the home.
