Air Ambulance Races to Save Man’s Life in Ryde

A dramatic rescue unfolded this morning as air ambulance crews and paramedics fought to save a man’s life on a driveway in Ryde, Isle of Wight.

Emergency Teams Swarm Barfield Road

Crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance rushed to a property on Barfield Road, where a man in his sixties was critically ill.

The air ambulance doctor performed a rapid sequence induction procedure at the scene before transferring the man to the helicopter. The chopper had landed nearby at Dover Park Primary School just before 11am and quickly sped to Barfield Road with police escort.

Man Airlifted to Southampton Hospital

The seriously ill man is now being flown to Southampton General Hospital for urgent treatment. Officers from Hampshire Constabulary remain at the scene as the road stays blocked in both directions.
