Arrests ranged from breaching Coronavirus rules to assaulting emergency workers, violent disorder, and outstanding warrants. The Met has now dispersed all crowds but warns the policing operation will continue into the evening.

Commander Condemns Protest Organisers

“One demonstration attracted large numbers who ignored social distancing and their own safety rules,” said Commander Ade Adelekan. “Organisers failed to keep protesters safe, voiding their risk assessment, forcing officers to step in and disperse the crowds.”

“Most people complied and left quickly, but a small minority obstructed efforts—blocking Westminster Bridge and ignoring police orders.”

“Our work isn’t over yet. Londoners must follow the rules, avoid large gatherings, and stay safe.”
