Masked Gunman Targets Off-Duty Officer in Narrow Miss
Police have launched a high-stakes attempted murder probe after an off-duty officer was confronted by a masked man armed with a shotgun right outside his home in County Fermanagh.
Terrifying Doorstep Encounter in Kesh
The incident happened just after 2am on Thursday in the Rosscah Road and Crevenish Road area near Kesh. The off-duty officer spotted suspicious movement outside and bravely went to the front door to check.
He found a figure dressed all in black pointing a shotgun straight at him. But in a chilling twist, the gun failed to fire.
Suspect Flees Into Nearby Fields
The masked attacker then fled on foot across fields close to a local football club, disappearing into the night. Police believe this was a deliberate attempt to kill the officer.
Police Hunt Organised Criminals Behind Attack
Mark Lindsay, chairman of the Northern Ireland Police Federation, confirmed: “The gun did not go off despite the suspect’s attempt to fire it.”
Detective Chief Inspector Julie Mullan said: “Our primary line of enquiry is that organised criminal elements may be responsible. There are no words to describe those who would creep through the dark of night with nothing but violence and destruction on their minds.”
Investigators are keeping an open mind on the motive but are treating the attack with the utmost seriousness as they hunt the masked gunman.
