BBC Launches Major Review of Russell Brand Amid Sex Assault Claims
The BBC has kicked off a full-scale review into its ties with comedian Russell Brand following explosive rape and sexual assault allegations.
Content Pulled and Ads Suspended
Just hours after the shocking claims emerged, the BBC yanked select Brand appearances from its platforms. Meanwhile, 1 has halted ads on videos featuring the 48-year-old comic.
The move responds to accusations from four women who say Brand abused them between 2006 and 2013. The damning report comes from a joint probe by The Times, The Sunday Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches.
Brand Denies All Allegations
Brand has hit back hard, denying every claim and insisting all his relationships were consensual.
The BBC confirmed it reviewed the content and removed flagged segments, saying the material no longer meets public standards. Notably, a 2018 episode of QI and a 2021 Joe Wicks podcast featuring Brand now show as “not currently available.”
Police Investigate New Complaint
On top of the media fallout, the Metropolitan Police revealed they’ve received a fresh sexual assault complaint linked to Brand, dating back to 2003 in Soho, central London.
BBC Director-General Tim Davie has ordered the review to guarantee full transparency and safeguard the broadcaster’s reputation.
Despite mounting pressure, Brand stands by his denial of all rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse allegations.
